Okay, I'll confess. I've been living under a rock. I hadn't seen the perennial classic, the timeless icon of Seventies pornography, Deep Throat.

Where've I been, you might ask? Who the hell knows, but for some odd reason I hadn't yet managed to see this historically significant, theatrically groundbreaking and pornographically genre-defining piece of film that has managed to creep into English vernacular not unlike "google it," "run me a xerox" or "get me a kleenex."

Every home needs a copy of this movie. I might even institute a rule that Cecilia and I watch it at least once a month, just for shits. It's that good.

By today's porn standards of course, it's antiquated and primitive. The humor and concept though, are sure to stand the test of time for eons, just as it has held its validity and necessity since 1972.

It's a time capsule of sex in the Seventies, the post-sexual-revolution of promiscuity, hairy balls, and veritably defined the self-conscious "silly porn movie plot."

In a nutshell, Linda Lovelace (the movie's piqued my curiosity about her… I'll have to look it up) is a girl apparently living in South Florida that has a deep-seated trouble with her sexuality. Sure, she enjoys sex, but she just hasn't gotten off…. REALLY gotten off. She's wanting "bells and bombs going off," but so far the experience has eluded her.

She seeks the help of a doctor, Dr. Reem, a sex therapist who quickly surmises the nature of her problem. Her clitoris is deep in the bottom of her throat, as opposed to where it normally should be.

His prescription: Deep Throat. Instructing her (she doesn't need much… she's a pro right off the bat) on how to cram a man's cock so far down her throat that she can stimulate her "tinkler" as he puts it, she manages to not only truly get off, but becomes somewhat hopelessly addicted to giving head… deep throating herself to orgasm every time.

Needless to say she's sold. She immediately wants to marry the good doctor, but he refrains and suggests she work for him in his sex therapy clinic. She then proceeds to deep throat a whole host of men and get her jollies throughout the rest of the flick.

Deep Throat would likely rank very highly for anyone into natural breasts and hairy pussies. Though Lovelace's box is shaved (and she shaves it on camera in the final scene), most of these women are au-naturale and silicone-free. Very nice.

The soundtrack is, for lack of a better term, BITCHEN, and the thought crossed my mind more than once that I'd like to get my hands on these tunes so I can funk out in my car sometime. The music is stellar, and accompanies the montaged sex scenes very nicely. Good, crunchy groovy porn music… gotta love it.

If there's a movie I regret not seeing until now, it's Deep Throat. What a classic.

Deep Throat at Adult DVD Empire

As classic as Deep Throat is, I'm often surprised at how many review sites don't take the time to actually review it.

Deep Throat is a household term nowadays, but why? The story line says it all.

Deep Throat is the story of Linda Lovelace (playing herself), a gal who loves to have wild sex, but can never seem to actually have an orgasm.

She confides this dilemma to her friend (Dolly Sharp), they decide they'll just have to have a huge orgy to fix the problem. But even after the girls screw a group of guys, Linda still hasn't felt the fireworks of a real orgasm.

Desperate for answers, Dolly Sharp recommends that Linda go see therapist Dr. Harry Reems. After a very thorough examination, Dr. Reems discovers that Linda's clit isn't between her legs– it's actually at the back of her throat!

After giving Dr. Reems a crippling good blowjob, Linda goes on to get hired as part of Dr. Reems' staff, giving her "counsel" to various sexually-frustrated men. Many blowjobs ensue.

This, my dears, is the basis for possibly the most legendary porn flick to hit the screens.

Of course Deep Throat is an inarguable classic. What struck me was, like with our review of Retro Raunch, Alain and I had moments of surprise throughout the movie. "Woah, a thumb in her ass!" "Damn, that dude's hairy!" "They did that in the 70s??" It's striking to see, once again, that sex has been kinky and wild since the dawn of time.

In fact, there are a couple of scenes that stand out as truly original– things you just don't see anymore. One is a threesome with Dolly Sharp, where she's lying on her back getting pounded by one dude, while another dude is underneath her, eating her out. Nowadays, you're more likely to see the girl getting screwed by one guy, while giving a blowjob to another.

The other scene has Linda Lovelace as a nurse giving her "services" to a sexually frustrated guy. The scene involves some sort of glass beaker/shot glass type of thing, a can of Coke, and a long straw. You'll have to see it to understand.

Please don't die without seeing Deep Throat. Please. It's great. And, BTW, the soundtrack kicks ass.
