So we took a look at our first REAL amateurs site just now, and were fairly pleased with ShotAtHome.org, a site that features a growing collection of truly amateur material. Everything is shot by the people fucking in the videos and stills, or by a “friend,” as it were.

The quality of the videos was better than I would’ve expected, considering the likely vast variation of camera equipment and lighting efforts. There were some extremely bad shots, and some extremely good ones, too… more privileged folks with nicer cameras, I suppose.

I think ShotAtHome.org is a site with a lot of potential, and if you’re really into ULTRA-REALITY porn, then this site is sure to please.

The webmaster updates all the time, Monday through Friday with video clips, some of which, if strung together, total a whopping 70 minutes of footage. This really is the stuff of weekend warriors and horny couples with a camcorder and a tripod.

Some interesting experiences we had, viewing this site. We saw a chick fucking (and blowing) a stick shift in a car. I couldn’t tell if the car was running though, which popped into my mind as the clip came on… “Man, that vibration would probably send her skywards… wouldn’t it be cool if she had something to gun the gas pedal to modulate the throbbing on the stick…. “

I could probably stop there but won’t, and thankfully found the site owner’s explanation for this in the FAQ. It’s a bit of cold comfort that he too, hates IE as much as I do (and likely gazillions of other conscious netizens out there), but had to keep compatibility in mind for the “majority” of users out there.

What this effectively did for me though, a 100% Linux user, was render his site completely unviewable. If Cecilia wasn’t running a Windoze box, I would’ve been shit out of luck.

If you’re on a Mac, forget it. If you run Linux (penguin power!), forget it. You’re stuck with the Big Blue E of Death.

My other gripe is that the videos are all streaming, and as hard as we looked we couldn’t find a way to actually download these videos to our hard drives for later viewing, meaning that if a) your connection is slow like dialup or DSL, or b) you aren’t “always on” broadband style, you’re out of luck for taking these often-splendid videos with you. Oh well.

Some (not all) of the static image galleries also have a horribly obtrusive and distracting copyright stamp, frequently emblazoned broadly across the very center of the picture. Come on, please put it somewhere lower, or higher, or smaller… ANYWHERE but right smack dab in the middle of the action.

The last thing I want to do though, after these bitchings of mine, is to dissuade you from checking out the site. For the lovers of TRUE amateur action, there’s a lot of great stuff at shotathome.org that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Filming oneself at home fucking, sucking, sticking bottles in their pussies, licking their lesbian girlfriends’ pussies… is HOT STUFF if you ask me, and ShotAtHome is well on its way to joining the ranks of the more established true-reality, yep-it’s-really-us amateur sites.

I give the site credit for its vision, and though there are drawbacks as far as usability, cross-platform friendliness and some other quirks, I think it’s definitely worth a look for its novelty, its honesty, and the raw hawtness of the footage.

Shot At Home approached us for a review, and they were curious to see what a woman thinks of the site. My pleasure!

Shotathome.org is a true amateur paysite, with videos and pics from regular people like you and me. Hell, some of these folks look like they could be my neighbors.

Just judging by the tour, you can tell that shotathome.com is a truly amateur endeavor– nothing ultra flashy, no outlandish claims here.

The members’ area is no different. Navigation is basic, and there’s not much to the visual appeal to the site design.

But let’s take a look at the content. Shot At Home is decidedly video-oriented, though there are some stills. This site is divided into 5 different video sections: Homemade videos, UK amateur videos, “lost footage” videos, a full-length movie area, and “homemade samplers” (mish-mashed videos of various people fucking).

Videos are ONLY available for streaming– no downloads. It’s a bit frustrating because you can’t fast-forward until about 15-20% of the way through the video.

I was quite surprised at the video quality, though– I expected really shitty video content and was happy to see very nice quality and resolution.

As best as I could tell, most of this stuff really is homemade. The UK amateur section seemed to be amateur porn stars, but there wasn’t a description for the section so I’m not sure.

As of this review, there are about 80 or so full-length videos, cut up into shorter clips. Not bad for such an amateur site.

There are about 20 photo galleries, all ultra amateur style. They’re short galleries of all different types of pics, and the pic sizes vary from way-too-small size to a decent 680×1024-ish.

Photo sets are not available for download. And there’s a big ole watermark across the top of some of the pics, which is fairly intrusive.

Things I like about the site: I really like the personal feel of the site, even if it means giving up the visual pretty-ness of the design.

I definitely like that I felt like I was watching my own homemade porn on Shot At Home. There are women and men of all shapes and sizes, fucking and sucking and enjoying themselves. I didn’t feel at all self-conscious or threatened– in fact, just the opposite.

Some of the sex is probably wilder than what most people do (e.g., one lady with 2 dildos and her husband’s cock in her pussy), and the rest is just real people screwing on camera.

Things I don’t like: Shot At Home is technologically waaaaaaaaaayyyy behind. First off, you CANNOT view the site in Firefox– shotathome.com ONLY works in IE. Yuck! I’ve got IE (don’t use it), but what about Linux users who hate Windows? What about Mac users?? Alain, a Linux lover, was PISSED. It’s just not technologically friendly.

The fact that you can’t download the videos or photosets blows, as well as the fact that you can’t fast forward or rewind until the streaming video has loaded.

Also, I cannot stand it when adult sites refer to women as whores or bitches, etc, or refer to them in a way that portrays the woman as a piece of meat or a giant receptacle for a man’s cock and cum.

Some of the movie titles did NOT jive with me. One was called “Cute Blonde Nikki Gets Whored!” Another title referred to a girl getting “fucked raw”– a little too violent for me.

And there was one video of a woman who, according to the movie title, was filming herself cheating on her husband. She was fucking TRASHED drunk, and they were in a hotel– so if Shot At Home really is real people fucking, then she’s really cheating on her husband . . . not very couple-friendly, to say the least.

Bottom line: Shot At Home’s technology NEEDS to catch up to the 21st century if they want to be competitive. And drop the derogatory references to women!

However, I truly believe the content does have potential. And I get the feeling that the webmaster actually gives a shit about his members, which is hard to find in a porn site nowadays.
